Television- -also lecture at the university-I am beginning, as we say in the darkroom, to feel a little overexposed but am loving it!! -signed the contract of my autobiography with Weidenfield this week- where will it all end?-alas, dentistry allowing I shall be in north Africa for the next 3 weeks- (is there any hope of a tape?) Bless you, Angus” [Angus McBean (1904-1990), Photographer, connected to Surrealist movement. McBean began his career in the theatre as mask-maker and scenery designer before working as a theatre photographer . He is largely known for his theatrical and inventive photography of the 1930s and 1940s . In 1935 he opened his own studio and his recognisable style was soon being published in glossy magazines. Mc Bean was heavily influenced by The Surrealist Exhibition in 1936 .After WW2 he opened a larger studio in Covent Garden, and in the 1940s and 1950s undertook many commissions from theatre companies. In the 1960s McBean famously photographed the Beatles for their first album. He lived in retirement in Flemings Hall in Eye, North Suffolk, which was later purchased by designer Jasper Conran.]
